Comprehensive Dental Exams in Little Italy Toronto.

Comprehensive Dental Exams

Routine dental exams are essential for maintaining good oral health. Each assessment gives your dental team a chance to detect potential issues and offer you effective dental care solutions.

At Little Italy Dentistry, we always begin by performing an oral exam prior to recommending any dental work. Your dentist is the only person qualified to conduct this comprehensive evaluation; however, your dental hygienist may also participate in these evaluations.

Comprehensive Dental Exams

New Patient Exams

New patients must undergo a comprehensive dental assessment during their initial appointment. During this procedure, your mouth is checked for potential signs of dental issues.

Routine dental checkups take only 20 minutes and can be completed quickly, while a thorough oral evaluation may take an hour or more to complete.

Comprehensive dental exams are much more detailed. They give your dentist a complete insight into your oral health status and help decide if deep cleanings or sealants are necessary.

What to Expect During Comprehensive Oral Exams:

  • Check for damaged, weakened, or missing teeth
  • Examine them for cavities or signs of them.
  • Look for signs of inflammation or problems on your tongue, inner cheeks, and roof of the mouth
  • Monitor existing dental work such as crowns
  • A full examination of your gums and jawbones
  • Assessing your bite for spaces between teeth and alignment issues
  • Examining your jaw joint or full TMJ exam
  • Dental x-rays or imaging scans
  • Aesthetic exams
  • Check for signs of oral cancer, such as bumps and sores; examine any irregular growths or lumps; and discuss your medical and oral health history with the healthcare provider.

Once your comprehensive oral exam is complete, your dentist can create a treatment plan tailored to meet your individual requirements.

Your dentist needs all the information possible about both your oral health and general wellness, so they can best meet your needs. Don’t be afraid to express any worries or inquiries; make sure they know if:

  • Do you suffer from dental anxiety or fear?
  • Smoke cigarettes?
  • Have a medical condition?

You might need medications if:

  • You are pregnant, trying, or planning to become pregnant.
  • You have allergies.
  • You notice irregularities in your mouth.
  • You have increased tooth sensitivity.
  • You find that your jaw muscles are often sore.

At Little Italy Dentistry, you can be certain that your personal data is handled with the utmost care and confidentiality. Our office strives to create an atmosphere free of judgment or compassion. Our dental team is sensitive to each and every one of your needs.

Little Italy Dental was a great visit for me. I contacted 3 dental places and you called me back, sent me the forms to complete prior to the appointment and then came in for the appointment. Very thorough, courteous and patience. I do not like going to the dentist but I have too and felt comfortable at this dental practice.

Thank you. See you again. Take care.

Had a great experience here getting orthodontic work done. I was a bit of a tricky case because I lost retainers that were approx 15 years old, and Ramona Dico was super patient trying to get the right remodeling done. She was diligent in getting it corrected when the fit wasn’t quite right the first time I had a fitting, without making me feel like a difficult patient. I recommend this clinic. Thanks so much!
