Traditional Braces And Retainers

ORTHODONTICS

Through orthodontic treatment, problems like crooked or crowded teeth, overbites or underbites, incorrect jaw position and disorders of the jaw joints are corrected.

Ideally, children should be seen for their initial assessment between the ages of 7 and 10 years, even sooner in some cases.

Usually, treatment involves wearing a retainer and/or braces for between 6 and 18 months.

BRACES

Teeth can slowly be moved and shifted into proper position by applying pressure in a certain directions. This takes place slowly and carefully over an extended period of time.

HOW BRACES WORK

Braces (or brackets) are glued on to the teeth. They act as “handles” to which arch wires can be attached.

A distorted arch wire exerts a force on each tooth and, as it returns to its ideal, pre-formed shape, it moves the teeth to which it is attached through the bone.
